Bewitched At En Dor

1st Samuel 28 describes King Saul seeking a medium (witch) to contact the spirit of the prophet Samuel.  His servant said to him "Behold, there is a woman who is a medium at En Dor." En Dor was an additional stop on our journey yesterday.

En Dor (Ein Dor) is today a working kibbutz which began in 1948.  A kibbutz is a "collective settlement"; there are 330 kibbutzim in Israel.  Everyone that is a member of the kibbutz shares equally in the income earned, regardless of their job description.  Kibbutz Ein Dor's main source of income is selling solar-generated energy, along with agriculture.

Along with a small but very informative archaelogical museum located at En Dor, there is also a collection of tools and equipment used from ancient times to the present in the making of olive oil.  It was very interesting to hear and learn about this process.
